Living Options at Birchaven

Birchaven Village, a division of Blanchard Valley Health System, is a prestige retirement community in northwest Ohio. Conveniently located in the EasternWoods area of Findlay, Birchaven prides itself on being a community of choices.

Offering several options in accommodations, amenities, services and activities, Birchaven provides levels of care ranging from independent senior living, to skilled nursing and rehabilitative care, to long-term healthcare.

Independent Senior Living – Total independence with support and socialization options. Enjoy breakfast and dinner prepared for you daily, served in our community dining room. "Extras” include transportation, activities, use of our indoor pools and hot tub, exercise area, Gift Shop, bank, barber/beauty shop on premises, wellness checks, health programs, and regular check-ins. Housekeeping and laundry services are optional.

Assisted Senior Living – Assisted living facilities are for people needing assistance with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs) but wishing to live as independently as possible for as long as possible. Assisted living exists to bridge the gap between independent living and nursing homes. Residents in assisted living facilities are not able to live by themselves but do not require constant care either.

Skilled Nursing and Rehabilitation – State-licensed for 24-hour medical and custodial care for individuals who have a serious illness or injury. A multidisciplinary team provides physical, occupational and speech therapy in addition to focusing on clinical services and activities designed for mental and physical stimulation. Stays can range from short-term (for rehabilitation after surgery) to long-term.

Long-Term Care – State licensed for 24-hour medical and custodial care for individuals who require assistance with their physical or emotional needs over a long period of time. This can mean support services, like assistance with bathing, dressing, and preventing unsafe behavior, as well as attention to medical needs, pain management and incontinence issues.

Special Programs

Alzheimer’s Care – for those individuals with memory impairment, Birchaven’s Schaefer Care Center offers a secure, homelike environment with activities to engage the mind and body. Program is resident-focused, activity-oriented and family-inclusive.

Adult Day Center – A safe, supportive and enriching daytime program for adults who need special care. The Julien A. Faisant Adult Day Center also provides respite, support and education to caregivers and families.

Additional Support for residents is available through Bridge Home Health & Hospice, and Bridge Personal Care Services with offices on the premises.
