Since 1981, Episcopal Retirement Homes (ERH) has enhanced the lives of older adults with limited incomes through Canterbury Court, a HUD sponsored community of 150 one- and two-bedroom apartments. Canterbury Court is comfortably nestled in the residential community of West Carrollton, Ohio, just seven miles south of Dayton.
Close to shopping, restaurants and churches, Canterbury Court overlooks a private courtyard and six acres of landscaped grounds. The Dayton Mall is just 10 minutes away by car or the Canterbury bus. Downtown Dayton is only a 15-minute drive.
At ERH, our philosophy of care guides us to maintain every person's dignity and provide the same standard of excellence in care to every resident.
Each year, ERH provides amenities and services Canterbury Court residents could get at few other places. These include transportation, gardening areas, complimentary laundry facilities, and a part-time chaplain. Each resident's rent includes the cost of utilities, and is based on income and medical expenses.
It’s just another reason why Canterbury Court is truly a unique place to grow, live and support.
Canterbury Court is more than a community - it's a lifestyle. Through the cooperative efforts of the Resident Council, made up of residents and staff, a full program of entertainment and recreation highlights every week at Canterbury Court.
Activities range from bingo and birthday parties to card games and church services. Residents can play pool in the game parlor, chat with friends in the main lounge, garden in the greenhouse or outdoor butterfly garden and enjoy lively musical entertainment and festive meals in the Canterbury Room.
Canterbury Court residents and staff take pride in the community and have fun working together to help those in the local community as well. In 2002 and 2006, Canterbury Court received the Mayor’s Award for Community Volunteer Service by West Carrollton Mayor Maxine Gilman for its efforts with the West Carrollton Operation Share Christmas. In conjunction with the United Methodist Church in West Carrollton, residents and staff united to purchase and present Christmas gifts for 35 needy families in the community.
Canterbury Court’s Butterfly Garden was also recognized with a certificate of excellence by The Ohio Lepidopterists, a non-profit organization that promotes interest in butterflies, skippers and moths of Ohio and neighboring states.
From community events to social outings and volunteering opportunties, there's fun to fit everyone's style and taste at Canterbury Court.
