Logan Acres Care Center continues a strong and rich legacy of providing care to the residents of Logan County. Beginning in 1849 with the purchase of 164 acres of land for the care of indigent and ill citizens, the Logan County Commissioners have provided a place to meet the health related needs of the public. The initial structure was a working farm with an infirmary which burned in 1906. The new structure was occupied in 1910 and renamed the County Home in 1919. This home served the needs of Logan County’s low-income and ill until it, too, fell to fire in 1952. The new County Home was established in 1954, and in March of 1984 was renamed Logan Acres. It was around this time that the county’s facility became a true nursing home, certified by Medicaid and Medicare. Our annual surveys by the Ohio Department of Health ensure that Logan Acres provides care to industry standards. In June of 2006, we became Logan Acres Care Center as we occupied a modern and sprawling new 55,000 sq. ft. building located just east of the former County Home site.
The new Logan Acres Care Center is like no other nursing home you’ve likely seen. With a rural barn style of architecture, Logan Acres is warm and inviting starting with the front porch lined with rocking chairs. Step inside and you’ll find a parlor area complete with a fireplace and built in library shelves. A quiet chapel with stained glass windows provides solace to those seeking private moments for reflection or prayer.
Four distinct areas offer residents the feel of neighborhood living with a shared dining room and family room areas. Every resident enjoys a private room with plenty of sunshine, cable, telephone and internet access and room for those special personal items that make a house a home.
A full range of therapies, activities including Wii, trips to see a play, pet visits and one on one visits to reminisce, an in-house beauty shop and access to a podiatrist, optometrist, audiologist and dentist all serve to enhance the day to day experience of our residents. We offer open visitation hours and encourage family involvement with meals, activities and special events. Logan Acres is the area leader in the move toward person centered care wherein we personalize each resident’s care and adapt our routines to meet their specific needs and preferences, getting to know every one of our customers on a personal basis.
