Saint Charles, resting on 500 acres in Carthagena, Ohio, is the central house for the Cincinnati Province of the Missionaries of the Precious Blood. This apostolic community of priests and brothers was founded on August 15, 1815, by St. Gaspar del Bufalo, in Rome, Italy, and began missionary service in the United States in 1844.

Several hundred acres were purchased in 1861 by the Missionaries of the Precious Blood to provide for a seminary for Precious Blood priests and brothers. The main building was completed in 1922. The beautiful Romanesque chapel, built in 1906 and subsequently remodeled, is attached to the center rear of the building. The seminary closed in 1969 and the building was named St. Charles Center, primarily a home for active and retired priests and brothers.

In 2006, the main building was renovated into independent apartments for people age 55 and above, religious and laity, and is now known as the Saint Charles Senior Living Community.

Enjoy independent living and companionship of others in a peaceful atmosphere...

The Saint Charles Senior Living Community, a non-profit retirement community sponsored by the Missionaries of the Precious Blood, welcomes residents ages 55 or over, regardless of national origin, race, or religious creed. The goal at Saint Charles is to offer a holistic approach to resident living. We strive to enhance physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual well being.

Life at Saint Charles frees you from the daily chores of maintaining a home. Bring your own furniture and cherished mementos to create your space the way you like it. Do things you always wanted to do but never got around to doing them. The independent living at Saint Charles is designed to support the individuality and dignity of each resident.

A Peaceful Setting...
Take a stroll through our attractive, spacious grounds or enjoy two gorgeous lakes for fishing. There is ample room to walk and bike, and many places on the property to rest and reflect. Walk the outdoor way of the cross or pause by the lovely statues and grottoes.

Spiritual Benefits...
Our Catholic community has unique opportunities to deepen your spiritual life with Mass offered at several times, daily Benediction, and time to pray before the Blessed Sacrament. The beautiful chapel at Saint Charles also provides an inspirational place for peaceful, private time for prayer. Outside find statues, several grottoes, and the Way of the Cross, plus attractive spacious grounds.

Unique Features...
Saint Charles Senior Living Community offers a peaceful, warm, welcoming environment for you to call home. Within the building, there is no distinction between areas for priests and religious and areas for lay residents.
